The Country Guesthouse
by Robyn Carr

Another great book that I read this Summer. "The Country Guesthouse" by Robyn Carr was a story about second chances and power of love. I loved reading about this young family coming together and helping each other mend, emotionally. I haven't read any books by Robyn Carr before, this was my first, but I will definitely look for more.

The Devil In The White City
by Erik Larson

The interweaving of the history of the Chicago World’s Fair in the 1890’s with the investigation of a serial killer who operated concurrently was seamless. Rich descriptions and meticulously referenced sources made this read like some of the best investigative journalism combined with fiction. But it’s all true!

Two Weeks
by Karen Kingsbury

"Two Weeks" by Karen Kingsbury was another great story. This book was a wonderful representation of friendship. With lots of ups and downs, I found my self hoping for a sequel. The ending left me with so many unknowns, that I feel like a part 2 would be a great idea. Even so, I really enjoyed the book. It was a quick read.

The Things We Cannot Say
by Kelly Rimmer

I absolutely loved the book “The Things We Cannot Say.” It follows the life of Alina, who is engaged to her best friend but then World War Two gets in the way and sends her on a new path, and Alice, who goes on a mission to another country to uncover the past of her dying Babcia (grandmother in polish). This book is full of love, heartbreak, mystery, history, adventure, and truth. I recommend this book to almost everyone, as it may not be appropriate for some, but in the end it is a really amazing book!

Rainy Day Friends
by Jill Shalvis

“Rainy Day Friends” by Jill Shalvis was yet another book that I enjoyed. I found myself taking it wherever I went and still being able to read with distractions around me. A great story about loss, love and learning to trust again. Shalvis made it easy to want to be part of the Capriotti’s family too!!

Words in Deep Blue
by Cath Crowley

This Young Adult novel toggles between the perspectives of the two main characters and shares the story of a young man whose family owns an unusual used bookshop and a young woman whose family has undergone a tragic loss. I loved the way in which the author wove characters' stories with the titles from the bookshop and the section of the bookstore in which people scribble in the margins and tuck letters for future readers. Charming setting and charming characters.

The Storied Life of A. J. Fickry
by Gabrielle Zevin

Zevin creates great characters and an interesting plot focused primarily on the development of those characters. The setting is a small-town bookstore. The main character (A.J.) shares his own pithy book reviews that we later discover have a secondary purpose. Great for book lovers who might be interested in checking out books he reviews.

The Library Book
by Various

This collection of essays published through Profile Books was originally released to support The Reading Agency. These charming and diverse essays are essentially a love letter to libraries and librarians. Although from primarily a British perspective, the love of reading and of books is ubiquitous. Authors include Zadie Smith and Stephen Fry.

Heart Of Darkness
by Joseph Conrad

Marlow, the main character, makes his journey up the Congo River in behalf of the Belgian trading company. As he travels Marlow discovers the many hardships and dangerous and frightening things he must overcome to fulfill his journey. He also learns a lot from the people around him as he took his journey. I loved this book and think many other people would too.

The Road From Home
by David Kherdian

The Road From Home by David Kherdian is a very wonderful book to read. It tells the story in such an amazing way that you feel just like you are living with the characters. It is written during the time when the Turkish government was causing great destruction to its Armenian population. I recommend this book to people who want to have a wonderfully written book.
